Overview

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an 83–amino-acid analog of insulin-like growth factor 1, carrying an Arg³ substitution and a 13-residue N-terminal extension that reduce its binding to IGF-binding proteins and extend its activity. It is a core reference material in growth-factor and cell-proliferation research.

Mechanism & receptor biology

Research examines its activation of the IGF-1 receptor and downstream PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling, and — because it largely evades IGFBP sequestration — its prolonged availability in cell- and tissue-culture systems.

Research context

Used in cell-proliferation, muscle-biology and tissue-growth research as a long-acting IGF-1 reference analog.
